WHIPPLE CUSTOM PCM CALIBRATION SERVICE

The Whipple Custom PCM Calibration Service for Mercury Racing 525 HP EFI applications is designed for customers building custom marine engine combinations that require calibration support beyond a standard stock refresh or off-the-shelf upgrade. This service allows supported 525 HP EFI combinations to be calibrated around the customer's actual engine hardware, fuel, operating setup, and performance goals.

Whether the application involves a complete custom build, modified cylinder heads, increased displacement, a custom camshaft, higher compression, firing order changes, injector changes, or other supported modifications, Whipple can custom tailor the PCM calibration to better match the engine combination. The calibration can be adjusted for key areas such as base fueling, acceleration enrichment, spark, idle speed, startup behavior, injector data, coil dwell, rev limits, and diagnostic code behavior.

For race applications, Whipple may also be able to adjust certain diagnostic code strategies when appropriate for the application. This can help reduce unwanted interruptions caused by recurring race-use codes, provided the requested changes are suitable for the engine combination and use case.

Testing And Data Requirements

Custom calibrations must be tested by the customer with proper equipment such as a scan tool or scan software and wideband air/fuel meters to measure air/fuel data. Calibration revisions are based on the engine setup information, scan data, air/fuel data, operating notes, and test feedback supplied to Whipple.

The custom calibration fee includes 1 year of calibration changes based on supplied test data and setup information. Complete and accurate information helps Whipple build and revise the calibration more effectively.

Calibration Service Process

The PCM must be removed and sent to Whipple Superchargers for calibration service. Include a copy of the receipt and all relevant engine, boat, fuel, PCM, injector, camshaft, cylinder head, displacement, compression, firing order, scan data, air/fuel data, and setup details with the PCM. Typical turnaround time is 7-10 days.

New PCM units may be available upon request. Custom calibration worksheets and test notes should be completed as thoroughly as possible so Whipple has the information needed to build and revise the calibration for the application.
