GEN 6 3.8L WHIPPLE SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM
The Mercury Racing 525 HP EFI Gen 6 3.8L Whipple Supercharger System is designed for customers who want a major increase in torque, horsepower, cruising performance, and top-end speed from a compatible 525 HP EFI marine engine package. This throttle body injection version combines Whipple twin-screw supercharger technology, intercooled boost, PCM calibration, and marine-specific hardware into a complete bolt-on supercharger system.
Now featuring the Gen 6 3.8L supercharger design, this system is engineered for cooler discharge temperatures, lower noise levels, increased airflow capacity, and strong power delivery across the RPM range. The Whipple twin-screw supercharger delivers instant boost response without the lag associated with centrifugal-style superchargers, giving the boat stronger low-speed torque, faster planing, improved cruising performance, and increased top-end power when the setup supports it.
Stage 1 features the original 8" wide x 2.5" thick cupronickel intercooler core and 6-7 psi of boost. In supported applications, Stage 1 is listed to increase horsepower by up to nearly 50% while maintaining strong idle quality, starting, and dockside operation. Stage 2 builds on the Stage 1 system with the massive MOAC intercooler core, dual inlet/outlet water flow, and a .125" smaller supercharger pulley for approximately 1 psi more boost and an additional listed power increase.
The throttle body injection layout helps create an additional charge-cooling effect as fuel is introduced ahead of the intake path, supporting lower inlet temperatures, improved power, and added reliability in the correct application. The system is designed to work with the stock Mercury Motorola PCM555 computer using Whipple calibration for complete engine management, including fuel, spark, and detonation protection.
The Whipple system is also designed to retain compatibility with SmartCraft and related marine display systems, including VesselView, RaceView, Garmin, Raymarine, Northstar, and other supported display or monitoring systems when properly configured.
Major kit components are pre-assembled to support a cleaner installation, and the system is available in Hi-Performance Blue finish, polished finish, custom color, and other finish options. Finish and stage selections should be chosen based on the customer's build goals, engine compartment layout, and complete application requirements.
