WHIPPLE STAGE 3 TO STAGE 4 PERFORMANCE UPGRADE KIT

The Whipple Stage 3 to Stage 4 Performance Upgrade Kit for Mercury Racing 700 SCI applications is designed for customers who already have the Whipple Stage 3 performance package and want to move up to the Stage 4 configuration. This is not the complete Stage 4 kit. It is an upgrade package intended to bridge an existing Stage 3 setup to Stage 4 using the supported Stage 4 calibration and added hardware.

The Stage 3 package already includes the Stage 3 PCM calibration, intercooler water re-route, and high-flow billet flame arrestor. This Stage 3 to Stage 4 upgrade adds the Stage 4 PCM calibration, Stage 4 camshaft, and high-flow 120 degree thermostat to support the higher Stage 4 power level and RPM range.

The Stage 4 configuration is listed to increase output by more than 210 HP and 170 lb-ft of torque over stock under Whipple test conditions, or 45 HP and 35 lb-ft of torque over the Stage 3 package under Whipple test conditions. Whipple also increases low-RPM power to help reduce plane time and improve acceleration when the boat, prop, conditions, and setup support it.

The RPM limit is increased to 6200 RPM compared to the Stage 3 6000 RPM limit and the stock 5400 RPM limit, giving customers a wider propping range and additional top-speed potential. The Stage 4 calibration is designed for 91 octane fuel using the (R+M)/2 rating method while maintaining stock-style idle, starting, and driveability.

Calibration Service Process

The PCM must be removed and sent to Whipple Superchargers for calibration service. Include a copy of the receipt and any relevant engine, boat, fuel, prop, PCM, current Stage 3 setup, camshaft, thermostat, and installation details with the PCM. Typical turnaround time is 7-10 days.

New PCM units may be available upon request. Verify PCM compatibility, engine model, fuel octane, current Stage 3 configuration, current calibration, camshaft installation requirements, thermostat requirements, and complete installation requirements before ordering.

Performance note: Power levels can vary from engine to engine. Whipple performance results were achieved under controlled conditions, and all applications can vary. Boat speed, plane time, and acceleration results depend on boat design, propping, atmospheric conditions, operating environment, driver input, and the complete engine package. MPH gains are helpful reference points and are not guaranteed.
