The Whipple -12AN Intercooler Fitting Upgrade is a support component package for compatible Mercury Racing 600 SCI, 662 SCI, and 700 SCI applications. This upgrade is designed to improve water flow through the stock intercooler core by replacing the restrictive factory intercooler fitting layout with higher-flow stainless -12AN hardware.

Improved intercooler water flow can help reduce manifold air temperatures and supercharger discharge temperatures. Cooler charge air can support stronger reliability, durability, and power consistency in properly configured marine performance applications, especially when inlet air temperature safety thresholds would otherwise limit power.

The factory 600 SCI setup uses a small inlet fitting that restricts water flow to the intercooler. The Whipple high-flow fitting uses a tapered internal shape that transitions from .50" to .75" to increase water volume capacity. The system also replaces the low-flow cast 90-degree style fitting approach with stainless steel swivel 90-degree radiused fittings to help improve flow.

The factory intercooler supply uses 5/8" ID hose, while the Whipple -12AN system uses 3/4" ID hose to increase flow and reduce pressure loss. Because of the increased water-flow requirement, the -12AN system requires new plumbing for the intercooler supply and outlet, including a dedicated water source. It should not be teed into the factory water system like a stock or -10AN configuration.
