WHIPPLE CuNi LEE REPLACEMENT INTERCOOLER CORE
The Whipple CuNi Lee Replacement Intercooler Core is designed to replace corroded aluminum Lee cores used in standard 671-1471 4" Lee intercooler housings. This replacement core is also used in Whipple Double Cooler configurations that place two cores side-by-side for increased charge-air cooling capacity.
Whipple Coolers are used by professional marine engine builders and performance shops because of their cooling efficiency, corrosion resistance, and proven durability in demanding supercharged applications. This core is intended for compatible marine, hot rod, and custom performance builds using the supported Lee intercooler housing configuration.
CuNI MARINE INTERCOOLER TECHNOLOGY
Unlike aluminum intercooler cores that can corrode over time in harsh marine environments, Whipple CuNi intercooler technology uses cupronickel water passages for corrosion resistance in brackish lake water and ocean saltwater environments. Copper-alloy air fins support efficient heat transfer, helping reduce charge-air temperatures and improve cooling performance under load.
The Whipple bar-plate cupronickel intercooler design is built for durability and thermal efficiency. The core uses an offset fin design with a high air-side fin count to increase surface area and support strong charge-air temperature reduction in compatible applications.
PERFORMANCE AND DURABILITY
This replacement core features dual -20AN inlets and outlets to support high water-flow capacity in compatible cooler systems. The rugged bar-plate design and TIG-welded construction help the core withstand demanding marine and performance use better than many traditional extruded-tube cooler designs.
Cupronickel construction also provides a major durability advantage in high-load environments. Compared with aluminum, cupronickel offers a significantly higher melting point and stronger corrosion resistance for marine intercooler service.
