WHIPPLE DOUBLE CuNi INTERCOOLER
The Whipple Double CuNi Intercooler is a large-format marine and custom performance intercooler assembly designed for compatible 671-1471 manifold designs, Whipple applications, PSI applications, racing applications, and other custom supercharged builds. Built around two Whipple cupronickel intercooler cores mounted side-by-side, the Double Whipple Cooler is designed to increase cooling surface area for high-output forced-induction combinations.
Whipple Coolers are used by professional marine engine builders and performance shops because of their cooling efficiency, corrosion resistance, and proven durability in demanding supercharged applications. This cooler is intended for properly configured marine, hot rod, racing, and custom performance applications where charge-air cooling capacity and long-term durability are critical.
CuNi MARINE INTERCOOLER TECHNOLOGY
Whipple CuNi intercooler technology uses cupronickel water passages for corrosion resistance in brackish lake water and ocean saltwater environments. Unlike aluminum cores or coated cores that can corrode over time, cupronickel construction is well suited for harsh marine use. Copper-alloy air fins support efficient heat transfer, helping reduce charge-air temperatures and improve cooling performance under load.
The Double Whipple Cooler uses two Whipple cupronickel cores side-by-side to increase available cooling surface area. The core design uses an offset fin layout with a high air-side fin count to increase surface area and support strong charge-air temperature reduction in compatible high-boost applications.
PERFORMANCE AND DURABILITY
The Whipple cooler design uses rugged bar-plate construction rather than a standard extruded-tube layout. The bar-plate design and TIG-welded construction help the cooler withstand demanding marine and racing use, while cupronickel construction provides improved corrosion resistance and a significantly higher melting point than aluminum.
This cooler is designed for compatible 671-1471 manifold designs, with machining required. It may also be used for custom PSI and racing applications when properly configured by the engine builder or installer.
