CUSTOM CALIBRATION SERVICE

The Whipple Mercury Marine 454/502 MEFI Custom Calibration Service is designed for compatible Mercury Marine 454/502 Mag engine combinations using supported MEFI-1 or MEFI-3 engine control modules. This service is intended for customers with modified engine combinations that require calibration support beyond a standard off-the-shelf reflash.

Mercury's 454/502 engine packages from 1993-1999 are popular foundations for performance builds. Whether the setup includes a supercharger, camshaft change, cylinder head change, larger cubic inch combination, or other supported modifications, Whipple can develop a custom calibration to better match the engine's fuel, spark, and operating requirements.

Because each custom combination is different, calibration accuracy depends on complete setup details and proper customer testing. Custom calibration changes are based on customer-supplied engine information, ECM information, scan data, air/fuel data, and operating feedback.

Testing And Calibration Requirements

Custom calibrations must be tested by the customer with proper equipment such as a scan tool or scan software and wideband air/fuel meters to measure air/fuel data. Testing details, setup notes, scan data, and air/fuel data should be supplied to Whipple so calibration changes can be made accurately.

The custom calibration fee includes 1 year of calibration changes based on supplied test data and setup information.

Calibration Service Process

The ECM must be removed and sent to Whipple Superchargers for calibration service. Include a copy of the receipt and all relevant engine, boat, fuel, ECM, serial number, supercharger, camshaft, cylinder head, injector, scan data, air/fuel data, and setup details with the ECM. Typical turnaround time is 7-10 days.
